In this month's Gorilla Rigs lineup we have power like never before, and Asus have come over and helped make them TOTALLY INSANE!

Two Rigs in particular have had the Asus super tinker :) and let's start with a long running favourite – The War Monkey.

Fresh from the workshop after a total overhaul to accommodate the latest in AMD 8 Core processors and a beautiful AMD FX water cooling kit our War Monkey packs a mighty 280 X capable of decimating any game you want to throw at it…

Since the guys at BitFenix hooked us up with one of their yet to be released cases, the BitFenix Phenom, we have been pondering what we should put in it.

It had always been said we would put something crazy in the tiny form factor case.

We decided on the enormous Asus HD7970 which happens to be one of the longest and also one of the thickest graphics cards we have ever come across.

The card alone measures 27.9cm long and 5.3cm thick! That's a triple slot hunk of pure power.

Why you should be playing... Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Games

2 comments By Michael

In the Nintendo DS era my longstanding best friend was an albino rabbit called Ruby. We hung out at the beach. We exchanged gifts. We would even catch a KK Slider show at the museum sometimes. She called me Lil' Ears. I thought this was cute but also anatomically accurate. Then one day she moved away and promptly appeared in the village of my friend Hugh. She calls him Lil' Ears now. To this day Hugh posts the world's cutest ransom pictures on my Facebook wall.

I have not entirely forgiven him for this.

It is invariably this kind of experience that defines Animal Crossing. It's a game without traditional goals and with no hint of a score. You reward comes purely from your simple existence in a town filled with frequently crazy, anthropomorphised animals. With Animal Crossing: New Leaf for 3DS the usual zen activities of fishing, fossil collecting and bug catching return. This time round however players also pick up mayoral duties letting you dictate what kind of village your bizarre critters will inhabit.

Animal Crossing is pure charm from top to bottom. The beautiful papercraft art style looks amazing on the new handheld's 3D screen. Interactions with the village inhabitants are characterised by a seemingly endless stream of whimsical non-sequiturs. If you are not already discussing turnip prices with an enterprising boar on a weekly basis I wholeheartedly recommend you pick up a copy of New Leaf.

Are you finding a wireless connection is letting you down when you're gaming, whether by range or instability? A powerline adaptor could be answer!

These handy gadgets provide a direct line from your modem, through your houses internal power lines to your device. There are many options out there, and the Netcomm NP203 Powerline is the best one I have seen, here's why:

I use the TP-Link Powerline Adapter Starter Kit myself to bring the internet from my wireless modem upstairs directly to the consoles in the lounge. When I'm playing first person shooters I've found the wireless connection was getting me.. well.. unfairly pwned.

Hear EVERYTHING with the SHURE SRH840 Headphones

Electronics Music Instruments

2 comments By Keegan

For decades Shure has been known and respected for their microphones. The SM58 for vocal applications and SM57 for instruments – which over the years have become an industry standard, to be found all over the world, in both live and recording situations.

More recently, however, after developing their reputation further with their incredible in-ear-monitors they have started becoming more prominent in the pro and consumer headphones, earning them another industry standard accolade in the process with the SRH840.

The Shure SRH840 are one rung down from the top tier SRH940 closed back headphones. Although the SRH840 are regarded as professional-grade headphones, and will do a fantastic job in the studio, they would well suit a music fan who wants to get the most out of their tunes!

  • You'll hear something new every time with the SRH840's extra clarity
  • Added “warmth” to the overall tone will make your music sound that much “fuller”
  • The closed back design ensures that exterior noise will be reduced to a minimum, allowing for maximum immersion and enhancing critical listening.
