Many of us grew up with the name Shure —and
its ubiquitous ball-end SM58 mic.
Although over the decades, the company has stuck to guns with all the golden
oldies, it's rolled with the times too and continued to develop wireless
and wired tech for a variety of applications.
They've got it down with the latest wireless gear, offering features and
prices to suit—including the PGX
Digital wireless system.
The receiver is compact and utilitarian.
Antennas and controls are on the front, with connectors on the rear. According
to the specifications, line-of-sight working range is 200 feet
(60 metres).

Whirlwind
is one of the most widely used instrument cables in the world!
For over 35 years they've been making tough, reliable,
noiseless cables fit for practice, live performance or recording.
There's not a performer out there that doesn't bend, pinch, or tangle their
cable. That's why Whirlwind invented the Leader
Series. Premium, rugged, and practically indestructible, the Leader
plug's patented cable grip absorbs any typical straining in the field. And its
flexible boot extension has virtually eliminated breakage at the cable exit.
Combined with Accusonic+1cable, the Leader is the highest quality instrument
cable manufactured today.
If that wasn't enough, they come with a lifetime
warranty!

Zoom’s Q3HD
brings HD video and audio together for great looking movies that sound better
than ever.
Sound makes the movie.
Q3HD records at several resolutions and speeds, including 1080p at 30 frames
per second and 720p at 30 or 60 frames per second. It has three lighting
settings – Auto, Concert Lighting, and Night – to help optimize the
quality of your video recordings… but listening to the Q3HD reveals
its true hook. The built-in mics capture a great range of stereo sound, from the
resonance of an acoustic guitar to rich-sounding dialogue. Selectable bit- and
sample-rate settings tune audio performance all the way up to 24-bit PCM at
96kHz, or 48kHz AAC at 320kbps.
Whether you're trying to break into the YouTube circuit or improve your band
through careful analysis of recent rehearsals and performances, you
need quality recording that accurately represents your look
and sound.

Designed and constructed in Auckland, the Qualified
Sound Mic Shield, lovingly dubbed “The Reflection
Killer” offers an affordable,
homegrown alternative to some of the major brands available,
but with extremely comparable results!
As a recording musician, or as a recording engineer, it's important that
nothing gets in the way of the perfect take. We never
know when it's going to present itself, so it's our responsibility to do
whatever we can to enable the ever illusive perfect take come out to
play whenever it feels like it.
Despite the name, this glorious device brought to us by the team at
Qualified Sound will not make you invisible in a mirror, like
some kind of internet shopping vampire. It will, however, enable you to
record vocals of all kinds without having to worry about being in the perfect
room for it!
For us Home Studio guys, while being at home and not having
to worry about forking out for studio time, being at home is also the
biggest challenge we face – a pro studio will have acoustic treating to be
rid of any of the extra noises that would otherwise potentially slip into the
recording.

Anybody who has ever recorded in studio or garage knows that Shure
spells microphone.
“Shure has catered to the high-fidelity audio cravings of consumers
since the introduction of its first stereo phonograph cartridge 50 years
ago,” said Mark Karnes, Shure’s Executive Director of Global Marketing.
“Back then, we were just listening to music. Today, most of us are not only
taking our music with us, we’re also actively involved in creating and
recording sound.”
This has set the precedent for Shure's recent innovations with the PG27USB
and the PG42USB
which are aimed not only at producing fantastic
clarity and quality recordings, but also ease of use featuring
“Plug ‘n’ Play” performance.
• The PG27USB features a flat, neutral frequency response
for natural reproduction of a wide variety of instrument and vocal sound
sources.

One of the coolest things about Elixir
Strings is that they last for AAAGES!
The reason that regular uncoated strings deteriorate is because they
are vulnerable to the elements and the various goodies that human skin
naturally excretes – moisture, salts and even skin itself. Moisture and
salts, of course, tarnish shiny things, while skin cells can make their way
between the windings of the strings, causing their vibrations to be hindered and
friction increased.
What sets Elixir NanoWeb
Strings apart is their space-aged force
field! Like something out of a sci-fi movie. These strings are
impervious to the conditions that guitar and bass strings are subject to. This
means your strings retain that “new string
feeeeel” and tone for their whole life on
your instrument.

Not all that long ago… the more effects
pedals you had, the more duct tape you needed to use to
fix them to the stage. The more stage savvy of us created our own piece
of “portable floor” to fix our pedals to and take to shows…
Nowadays there are several companies manufacturing Pro Grade
pedalboards, including Pedaltrain
who are making a whole series of heavy duty pedalboards featuring softcases
and hardcases
to suit your needs!
They are designed by people in the know – people who have worked as
touring guitar technicians and know what's practical as well as what kind of
punishment these boards need to stand up to.
It seems Pedaltrain have thought of everything for us modern
musicians – all their pedalboards come with strips of Velcro as well as cable
ties to keep your effects tidily arranged and keep your tone
in order!
Electro
Harmonix have a massive range of great sounding pedals. Among the
most popular of these is the Bass
Big Muff Pi Distortion/Sustainer.
The Bass Big Muff draws its roots from the legendary Sovtek battle-tank
green Big Muff Pi, from the late 90′s as well as from the original
Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi from the early 70′s. These Big Muff Pi’s are
often employed by bass players to thicken up their sound or to give them
over-the-top low end growl.
This incarnation includes some choooice features for the modern
bassist, including True bypass (allowing your bass to sound
completely un-coloured when the pedal is off), a Bass Boost EQ
switch (that reintroduces your low frequencies when tone is set for high
frequencies) and a new favorite feature is the dry
switch that mixes your dry bass with the Bass
Big Muff Pi distortion – a blend used often in recordings to get
a good mix of volume & clarity.
The history, lineage, and impact of the EHX Big Muff can’t be understated
in any conversation about fuzz. With it’s roots in the early 70′s it was
the first big hit for the company and is at the core of many essential
recordings over the years. Get yours today on Mighty Ape!
Looking for something to take your guitar/bass/banjo sound to the
next level?
The
EBow Plus may be exactly what you're after! The EBow is a hand-held
electronic bow for use on guitar and other stringed instruments. It's capable
of producing a powerful infinite sustain & has two modes –
Standard Mode enables the string to ring at its natural pitch
wherever you fret and Harmonic Mode produces rich harmonics
wherever you fret for incredible guitar sounds.
This small battery-powered unit replaces the pick in the right hand
letting the guitarist mimic strings, horns, and woodwinds with unbelievable
sensitivity. Unlike plug-in effects, the Energy Bow does its work on the string
itself… Direct String Synthesis™. Infinite Sustain is just the
beginning.
The EBow is well designed ergonomically, and the blue LED also looks choice
on stage illuminating your instrument and has been used by many artists, over
the years, including Sigur Ros (who even has a song called
EBow ), Alice in Chains and Smashing Pumpkins… the
Metal Heads of you out there may even remember it from the
start of Metallica's The Unforgiven.
