Mighty Ape Recommends: Cookbooks for Mother's Day

By Stacey

Cookbooks are an awesome gift and mum is the #1 recipient on our minds right now.

Some of the Mighty Ape monkeys have been stuffing themselves full of delicious goodies (it's a tough job, but someone has to do it), testing our most popular cookbooks so we can recommend them to you.

Here's our guide to the top cookbooks right now:

The New Zealand Baking Book is currently one of our favourites. A collection of recipes from New Zealand's most well-known and loved bakers, cooks and chefs.

The recipes are super easy, quick and taste amazing! You can find all the ingredients in your own pantry or supermarket which is a bonus, no hunting for that one unusual ingredient here.

Plus, local charity KidsCan will be receiving some of the profits from nationwide book sales!

If you're looking for a cookbook that's both easy and healthy you can't go past Nadia Lim & My Food Bag's What's for Dinner?

Our marketing monkey; Gracie is a huge fan of Nadia and has made a great number of dishes from her past books, like a delicious One-Pan Turkish Eggs + Chickpeas in Smoky Tomato Sauce from Nadia Lim's Fresh Start Cookbook.

This new book contains more healthy and easy recipes for the home cook. An added feature that we love is the nutritional information on each recipe, especially helpful if you are trying to watch your figure.

This is honest, good food cooking. At the back of the book you will also find a range of added extras such as sauces to make your dish all the more delicious.

Homemade Happiness by Chelsea Winter

Even though her book released at the end of last year we are still massive Chelsea Winter fans and Homemade Happiness is the staple cookbook in many of our monkeys homes.

Every recipe is a winner; simple and delicious.

Rose, our merchandise monkey has recently brought all three of her cookbooks and is looking forward to Chelsea's next book already.

We all envy Rose's lunches and we hear her meals are a huge hit with her growing boys who eat every last crumb, we think that's the best review you can get!

Movie Gorilla, Shirl has been cooking from Emma Galloway's A Year in my Real Food Kitchen Check out these dumplings, she nailed it!

You might remember Emma's previous book My Darling Lemon Thyme was a huge success and gave food lovers a fresh new way to approach cooking.

Once again Emma's unique style makes this book stand out from the crowd.

Shirl found the recipes easy to follow which is great news for those of us who don't want to spend all afternoon in the kitchen. They sure look impressive too!

I've always been a bit skeptical when it comes to celebrity cookbooks, there's just something about them that seems a bit out of touch but I am happy to say that Gwyneth Paltrow's It's All Easy has completely proved me wrong. When received a sample from the supplier I simply couldn't put it down.

This down-to-earth cookbook is my pick for Mother's Day. The design is beautiful, a combination of pale blues, greens and grays gives the book a very relaxed, comforting yet inspirational feel while complimenting the food photography.

The food looks so incredible that there's not a single recipe that I wouldn't be eager to try and you can pick everything up at your local supermarket, you couldn't ask for more than that.

Half the office staff have poured over the book since it arrived but I'm keeping this one all to myself ;)
