On trend - DAY OF THE DEAD Skull homewares just landed!

By Stacey

The Day of the Dead or Día de los Muertos, is a Mexican holiday that is celebrated all over the world. The Day of the Dead is not in the least bit morbid as the name would suggest, and it is believed that the celebratory rituals performed – honouring family and friends that have passed on and welcoming their return to earth – have been a part of Mexico’s Aztec culture for more than 3000 years. The image most often associated with this beautiful timeless ritual, is the skull, which the Aztecs viewed as a powerful symbol of the circle of life – birth, death, and rebirth.

If you’re as fascinated as I am by Día de los Muertos, or simply skull obsessed, you must check out these neat new Day of the Dead skull goodies that have just landed in Home & Living.

  • My favorite item from our new Day of the Dead range is the Skull Pot Plant – it'd look great on the kitchen bench filled with herbs, but I think you'll find this spootakular 100% porcelain vase is bound to be a conversation starter no matter what you decide to pop inside!
  • These on-trend skull candles would fit right in on any Día de los Muertos altar – but they'd look pretty darn cool anywhere else too!
