Description

Zara the zebra has horizontal stripes instead of the normal vertical ones. This makes other zebras look down their noses at her and upsets and puzzles Zara as to why she is different. Her zookeeper, Zac, feels sorry for Zara and tries several different ways to make her horizontal stripes become vertical. Having given up, he suddenly realizes that 'different is good' and should be celebrated -- so that's what they do.

Author Biography:

Throughout a career spanning science to social work, Gloria loved to make up stories, first for her three children when they were small, and then for her five grandchildren. Over the past three years, inspired by her younger sister, Jackie who teaches phonics to preschool children, she has written and illustrated numerous phonics focused storybooks. Gloria continues to write her stories in the hope that they will make learning to read fun. Recently she has also written her own story in the form of an autobiographical novel.
