As the Stargate SG-1 team embark upon its tenth year, Vala (Claudia Black), a former Goa'uld host turned freedom-fighter, joins them in their battle to defend the galaxy from the holy war of the Ori. Meanwhile, relations between the Jaffa and Earth continue to be strained by the political manoeuvering of Gerak (Louis Gossett Jr.), a Jaffa leader whose rise to power has put him into conflict with Teal'c.
