"My first Doctor"
4 stars"

I'd never watched the Doctor Who serials before, and until a few months ago, I had absolutely no plans to start. I saw a few stray episodes here and there, from both the old and the new series with David Tennant, but having watched the whole season now, I can safely say that Christopher Eccleston is my favourite doctor, and the one who made me get into the series in the first place.

I find Tennant a bit too camp, but I thought Eccleston made a great Doctor. It was sad his time as The Doctor only lasted one season.

"Series One Great"
5 stars"

I love this first series of Doctor Who. Billie Piper and Christopher Eccleston do a wonderful job of playing the Doctor and Rose. It's definitely worth adding to your dvd collection. It got be glued on Doctor Who. Also look into buying series two, three and four. Absolutely brilliant. Thanks to the BBC for creating the legend that is the Doctor.

"A must-have introduction into the new Doctor Who"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This is probably the best series out of all of them so far. Eccleston plays a very realistic Doctor Who and this was the only DW series that he did. Billie Piper plays his companion Rose Tyler and they go on awesome adventures through space in time together in the TARDIS.

I was not much of a DW fan, catching some episodes on tv and getting sucked in and watching the whole 50 mins but I hadn't quite realized the overarching storylines in the whole series since each episode is like a mini-movie.

This is the best introduction into DW and the best season with great script and is a must-have if you plan to watch the new seasons of DW.

Description

Rose Tyler, a young shop assistant in a London department store, lives a humdrum and profoundly average life - until the night the shop dummies where she works wake up and try to kill her. Her life is saved by a strange man who only calls himself The Doctor (Christopher Eccleston), and intrigued by him, she finds herself thrown headlong into a hectic battle to stop an alien presence from invading Earth and annihilating the human race. She comes to learn that her new friend is even stranger than she thought - in fact, the Doctor's an alien adventurer called a 'Time Lord', seemingly the last of his race, who travels through time and space in his TARDIS battling evil where he finds it. And if she travels with him, she'll find herself witnessing the heat-death of the Earth five billion years in the future, meeting Charles Dickens in the past, and encountering lifeforms and invaders stranger than she'd ever thought possible. Only one thing is certain - it'll be the ride of a lifetime…
