Flames of War Fridays: Tank building time!

The end of the week is here and its time for Flames of War Friday.
This week has been all about tank building as I've started assembling the contents of our Open Fire set. Armed with some essential model tools: a good hobby knife, plastic clippers and a quality plastic or super glue; the Stugs and Sherman tanks in the kit are a breeze to put together, just follow the instructions within the kit. If you do run into problems Battlefront have helpfully provided some very useful assembly tips available here.
One thing I did when assembling the tanks, especially the Shermans, you will get some small gaps along the joins of the larger pieces. While these will not be too noticeable once painted I prefer to fill and smooth such areas off. After a trying a couple of different hobby products I settled on Vallejo Plastic Putty to fill the gaps. Its fast drying, has a great precision applicator and is acrylic, which means you can easily smooth it off and clean of excess with a damp cotton bud. For the larger gaps on the undersides of the tanks I recommend using an epoxy putty as more volume is required.
