Description

With a knack for the arts, Amelia puts her skills to use and creates a wooden frog that plays music! But once Amelia sells her creation, no one realizes the frog's special talent! After sitting on the shelf for months, will the wooden frog find a home that recognizes its value? One day, Amelia creates a special wooden frog that makes music! Amelia plays the frog's music whenever she can, always hoping to showcase the frog's special talent to anyone who will listen. One day, the frog finds himself at a market, looking for a new home. A gentleman buys him, and the frog is so excited! But once he's at the man's home, he sits on the shelf for months, never playing his beautiful music. Market after market, shelf after shelf, the frog notices that no one realizes he has a special musical talent. Will the wooden frog find a home that recognizes its value?

Author Biography:

Jaida Powell is a 14-year-old student from Atlanta, Georgia. This book idea came from a small wooden frog given to her by her grandparents. Jaida did not know much about the frog's backstory, so she decided to give them one. Though it is most likely not accurate, it is a lot of fun to read. Young Authors Publishing is a children’s book publisher that exists to share the stories of Black & Brown children. We believe that all kids are story-worthy and should see themselves reflected in the books they read. We also believe in writing our future, which is why we publish books that reflect how diverse our world is. Our two-part mission is to produce diverse and culturally relevant children's books and to use book publishing as a vehicle to economic mobility for our young authors. Royalties from their book sales are deposited into our authors' savings accounts for their post-secondary plans.
