Country Calendar hopes you enjoy some of our favourite episodes from 2011.
Some feature young folks – like a female Hawkes Bay farm manager who loves country life, or a woman who enters the madcap Hunterville Shepherds’ Schemozzle. Others are not-so-young – a Northland grandmother holding tight to her whanau land and a Taranaki couple who still venture up a wild bush track to fell native trees on their land.
Some are unconventional – a Raglan couple who’ve put a chequered past behind them to grow organic veges. We visit a south Westland family who live two days walk from the road and another family who farm on D’Urville Island in Cook Strait. We meet a successful Waikato racehorse breeder and a Central North Island family who use horses daily on their hill-country sheep and beef farm.
We encounter some great characters – like a forthright female sheep-dog trainer who lives on a Taihape farm – and we hope you’ll enjoy meeting them all, too.
