From the makers of The Endless Summer, Step Into Liquid takes us from terrifying monstrous waves of Oahu's North Shore to the Texas waters of the Gulf Mexico (where waves are created by massive oil supertankers) to the shores of Ireland and Rapa Nui. Told through the voices of legends, pros, and everyday surfers alike, it is not just a film for surfers, but for anyone with an appreciation for sport and an inkling of what it means to be "stoked."
Set between 1962 and 1974, John Milius' Big Wednesday is the story of three surfing buddies, Matt (Jan-Michael Vincent), Jack (William Katt) and Leroy (Gary Busey). It tells of their fights, their loves and the hero worship that follows them as they conquer the foam. When the boys are called to serve up in Vietnam, Matt and Leroy evade the draft, but Jack submits voluntarily. As the years pass, the war takes its toll (not only on the battlefield), and their ebullience dims. As directed by authentic American maverick Milius (director of Conan The Barbarian, writer of Apocalypse Now), Big Wednesday is a fascinating chronicle of friendships and lifestyles in transition that captures some of the most spectacular surfing footage on film.
