"Fun game but a bit predictable"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Initially when I first started playing this game I thought great..lots of destruction and mayhem. Good range of weapons. Later as the game progressed seemd to maintain the same level of interest without getting anymore exciting. Killing bugs is ok but after a while it becomes just part of thegame. I think I preferred the previous Red faction when there was some choice over which missions you could choose to do and there was certainly the element of free roaming. This game doesnt allow that due to most of the mission time being underground. That said it was ok to play and if you havent played Red Faction before is probably worth a whirl

"A whole lot of fun"
5 stars"

Despite its forgettable story and pacing issues with the campaign, Red Faction: Armageddon is good fun for letting out your inner destructive child. They ability to tear apart and repair the environments at will is a hook that keeps working, and when the campaign gives you plenty of stuff to tear apart it’s easy to lose yourself to a primal need to destroy. Combine this with the other modes, including the especially fun take on cooperative survival, and you have a flawed game that definitely deserves a try.

"Lots of destructible buildings & inventive ways to kill enemies!"
4 stars"

The reviews that came out for this game made it seem very disappointing and not worth your time and money. It's not the greatest game in the world but, it is a good game with some great weapons and a good 6–8 hours of playtime. Once you've beaten the game you get access to New Game + which let's you keep all the upgrades and weapons you've unlocked. You also get access to “Cheats” (Unlimited ammo, weapon unlocks, etc). You “buy” these things by picking up Salvage, much like in Guerrilla. This is the games' currency.

I think why a lot of the reviewers were hard on this game is that unlike the previous entry Red Faction: Guerrilla which is an open world game, Armageddon is a linear, story driven experience.

I happen to enjoy both approaches so that change was not a problem for me. The story is serviceable, nothing ground breaking. The shooting action is fine and enjoyable. What really made it great was the weapons.

My personal favorites early on are the Assault Rifle, Maul (Big a$$ hammer) and the Magnet Gun. The MG works by letting fire an Anchor point. Then you fire an Attractor which pulls anything that the Anchor is attached too towards it. Great fun.

Later on as the number and size of the enemies increases I switched to the Singularity Gun, Plasma Cannon and Rocket Launcher. Great fun, lots of destructible buildings and inventive ways to kill enemies, well worth your time.

Review by Gamespot

“…Red Faction: Armageddon returns to the linear roots of the series with great success. Thanks to an enjoyably powerful arsenal and remarkably thorough destructibility, tearing your way through this alien-annihilating adventure is a blast. The campaign and Infestation mode offer a good amount of content, and the arrival of the magnet gun should be celebrated by anyone with a hankering for havoc. It's one of the most powerful, inspiring, and downright hilarious gameplay mechanics to come along in a while, and it makes Red Faction: Armageddon immensely appealing.” 8/10
