Description

A concise guide written for international medical school graduates applying for postgraduate clinical training in the United States. It offers insights on how to create a personal statement that is a true reflection of you are. It also offers advice on how to navigate the process successfully. This book is based on the author's life and professional experience, one that has enabled him to serve as an advisor and mentor to many, in and outside of the profession. Rather than fill the pages of the book with templates of what to write, the author has found a way to recommend what and what not to do, when it comes to writing a personal statement. This book is the second in a series of books focused on the unique challenges faced by international medical graduate as they pursue advanced training in the United States.

Author Biography:

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Olarewaju Oladipo, MD is the founder of KAINJI, a career mentoring and networking platform with a focus on the needs of Nigerian medical graduates in pursuit of career in the United States. This initiative has not only triggered a culture shift in the attitudes of young professionals of Nigerian descent (and others), it has eased the challenges that many international medical professionals face when they arrive in the United States. The platform remains active and continues to offer the necessary guidance that is so important in the early, critical stages of the careers of international medical graduates. Since its inception many years ago, KAINJI has grown to be a grassroots community of individuals who are committed to sharing their knowledge and supporting one another and the community at large - both in the United States and in Nigeria.
