Armatures would be good if making maybe space marine type bodies where the limbs are quite bulky and don't have much is the way of actually posing anything more than a raised arm or slightly outstretched leg. Anything more dynamic begins to be a real pain to bend without the running the risk of snapping it and it's actually a little thick to make any skinny models without very thin layers. Could be good for thicker characters or someone with great sculpting skills, but not very good for me.
