I've been playing games since the Atari 2600, and I'm telling you that no game in history has made me feel the way the Demon Souls/Dark Souls 1 & 2 games have made me feel. They're unique on every level. They never hold your hand. This is the only game I can justify playing for 8 hours straight. Some people can't hack this game and crumble in the face of real adversity gaming wise. If you think you're a gamer, then don't let this game beat you. Say to yourself, I'll never give up. I know it's hard, but… I will beat this game, even if it's the last thing I do. If you go into this game for the first time, with this mentality, you will come out of it having experienced one of the best games you've ever played.

The environments and enemies are less inspired than those in Dark Souls, with the world not quite as coherent. Lack of indefinite enemy respawn is a concern as leveling potential will eventually dry up. I would have liked the development team to strike out on their own a bit more and added a little more originality overall. Also what is the deal with the torches- Seems like an idea that the development team never fully realised, which is a shame as it could have been an interesting addition. Dark Souls II is still a good game but not quite the experience of Dark Souls.
