Description

Get set for big screen laughs as all your favourite small screen comedy stars explode into feature-length fun.

They are some of the longest-running and most-loved British television comedies ever made. So incredibly popular with audiences, during the 1970s many sitcoms graduated to the cinema screen for a full-blown adventure beyond the bounds of the 4:3 image. They were promoted as BIG SCREEN – BIG LAUGHS and now for the first time six of these TV TIE-INS are brought together in this special Collector’s Pack.

From the departmental dalliances of ARE YOU BEING SERVED?, the flat-sharing funnies of MAN ABOUT THE HOUSE and the dirtiness of STEPTOE & SON RIDE AGAIN, to the saucy shenanigans of UP THE CHASTITY BELT, HOLIDAY ON THE BUSES and BENNY HILL, the original cast, the original movies, and the best of British humour to rival the CARRY ON films, with all films featuring their original, rarely seen theatrical trailer plus extensive image galleries from the vaults.

ARE YOU BEING SERVED?:

With her pussy nicely tucked up in the Pet's Hotel and Union Jack knickers flying at full mast, Mrs. Slocombe and the staff of the Ladies and Gentlemen’s department have more than a few reservations when jetting off to the sun-kissed shores of the Costa Plonka – somewhere in the Mediterranean – for the holiday of a lifetime.

MAN ABOUT THE HOUSE:

Catering student Robin Tripp sees nothing unusual about sharing a flat with two girls, Chrissy and Jo. Indeed it works well except when his flat mates try their hand at cooking or his natural male urges get the better of him. But their daily game of cat and mouse is threatened when their warring landlords George and Mildred Roper are targeted by a greedy and unscrupulous property developer Spiros, who sees their residence as a delectable target for demolition to make way for brand new office towers.

HOLIDAY ON THE BUSES:

Inspector Blakey has finally got Butler. Three wrecked buses results in termination for Stan and Bob. But their unemployment doesn’t last for long when they find work running a holiday bus at Pontin’s Holiday Camp by the seaside – and with all the birds in the holiday mood, the lads are assured to strike it lucky. That is until discovering Blakey has been appointed Chief Security Officer and Mum, Olive and Arthur arrive with the chance of a cheap get-a-way.

STEPTOE & SON RIDE AGAIN:

Harold and Albert Steptoe’s loyal but past it horse must be sent off to the knacker’s yard. Charged with buying a new nag, Harold gets drunk and blows Albert’s savings on a greyhound in the belief he will win them a fortune. One slight problem: the dog is near-blind and can’t see the hare! Flat broke, there’s only one solution, the unforeseen ‘death’ of Steptoe Snr in order to collect his generous insurance policy – that is if Harold is the beneficiary.

UP THE CHASTITY BELT:

Though nobly born, Lurkalot has been laid low by wicked barons and has to make the best of life as a mere serf at Custard Castle. Between buttling for Sir Coward de Custard and posing for Lady Ashfodel’s tapestry, he indulges in a little business selling chastity belts and love potions. All goes medievally until Sir Braggart de Bombast arrives on the scene – a lecher and despoiler of virgins who plots to seize the castle and the beautiful Lobelia de Custard and have his way with her.

THE BEST OF BENNY HILL:

The one and only Benny Hill brings all his favourite sketches together in one big feature-film extravaganza. From the avant garde French movie director being interviewed for television, the elderly inhabitant of an old folks’ home playing strip poker with his nurse to a chat-show host dealing with a monosyllabic starlet, all his favourite moments and characters are on show.
