Author Biography:

Elizabeth Platt is a medical and science writer/editor living and working in Maine. She learned about high-risk pregnancy first-hand when she had her first son, Nathaniel, at the age of 38, and had a refresher course with her second son, Eric, at the age of 40. Elizabeth previously coauthored 100 Questions & Answers About Breast Cancer with Zora Brown, now in its second edition, and is currently the Managing Editor of the women's health website womentowomen.com. In her spare time, she breeds Lippitt Morgan horses at her farm in Buxton, Maine, where she lives with her sons, their father, two teenage stepchildren, and assorted dogs, cats, and poultry. Betty Campbell, RN, is a staff nurse for the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Maine Medical Center, Portland, Maine. She received her nursing diploma at the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut in 1975. Her areas of specialization are high-risk obstetrics and diabetes. Andrea Tetreau, RN, is Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Maine Medical Center, Portland, Maine. She received her nursing diploma at the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, Maine in 1980, and in 1994 became a certified medical sonographer at Middlesex College, Bedford, Massachusetts. Michael Pinette, MD, is the Director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Maine Medical Center, Portland, Maine. He received his MD from Dartmouth Medical School in 1982, followed by an Obstetrics/Gynecology fellowship and residency at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, after which he undertook a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Connecticut health Center in Farmington, Connecticut. He is a Board Certified Maternal-Fetal Medicine and sub-specialist with over 20 years of experience and has published over 100 articles in OB/GYN research. He also holds the posts of Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, Vermont, and Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, New Hampshire.
