Description

The priorities and values of Gen Z, who are now entering the workplace, are not always aligned with the priorities and values of earlier generations. Gen Z is viewed as fundamentally different from those who have gone before and by 2025, they will make up 30% of the workplace. Understanding the needs and expectations of Gen Z, will highlight how today’s managers and leaders can support them performing to their full potential. You Only Have to Ask! Explores the ever-evolving dynamics of the employer-employee relationship and provides guidance on how to navigate this successfully. The book highlights the need for today’s leaders to appreciate and adapt to the opportunities for increased levels of satisfaction, greater committed participation and fresh energy that Gen Z are able and willing to bring to the workplace. This means creating a culture that engages the minds and commitment of this new generation whose expectations and needs may not always conform to traditional management practice. The book also provides a ‘pick and mix’ framework to help elevate the communication between managers and teams that can be applied immediately. When using this framework every performer can develop and measure the level of engagement, in both the team and themselves, thus creating the ultimate environment in which everyone is enabled to do their best work. The eight questions in this book hold the key to a customized, dynamic, supportive environment for personal, team and business growth and future success.

Peter Lightfoot From 1989 Peter practised as a consultant coach to management leaders and their teams long before the concept of a ‘business coach’ became mainstream. He worked for many years alongside Sir John Whitmore, founder of Performance Consultants. He contributed to Sir John Whitmore bestselling book ‘Performance Coaching’ which challenged and changed the leadership role of managers and their teams throughout the corporate world. Peter brought a sports background to the world of business coaching. Originally a Chartered accountant he later became a National Ski Coach, promoting the practice of the Inner Game upon which ‘Performance Coaching ‘is based. His experiences of developing the skills of skiers, and the lessons he learned in coaching to improve performance, are written up in his book ‘Skiing is only a Game’. These principles still influence his style of business coaching. Clients for whom he has acted as executive, or team coach include KPMG, Texaco, Scottish Life, Cornhill Insurance and Lloyds bank.
