Description

Telling stories was my Dad's "modus operandi." His occupation in Canton, Ohio, as a salesman, gleaned him some of the most interesting and fascinating recounts. Encounters he had as an Army sergeant, customers he had on his Sterling Bakery bread route, his horse, "Doc," humorous recollections he had as a teenager and his moving interpretation in, "Gift of the Magi," all make up this piece of Americana. Already previously, individually published, they have been reunited into one simple venue for you to enjoy. So, grab a cup of coffee and be prepared to be entertained by some of the simplest heartwarming accounts written! This publication has been accepted by The McKinley Presidential Library & Museum in Canton, Ohio, in 2019, because of its references to Sterling Bakery. This is an honor beyond description. Thank You!

Author Biography:

His adult years were spent serving the public as a salesman, but actually a story teller was being born. Jack Bennett came to Canton as a youth and, after he retired, he was editor and publisher of a newsletter with a devoted readership! He was also a regular guest on the WHBC radio show, "The Sports Time Machine." He has had his stories published in both Ohio and Florida: The Canton Repository, The Herald, The Independent, Senior Forum and The Tribune, are just a few. Even though he's gone now, I want to share his remembrances with you. His way of recounting events will capture your imagination and you will relate to many of his escapades as a young boy, an Army sergeant and a home delivery bread man, driving a horse drawn wagon. As it turns out, these life experiences are forever sealed and ready to be shared with you.
