Now, I admit when I bought this, I was impressed with its quality, however
people constantly complained that they could hardly hear me, or that I sounded
very distant, secondly there is no “play and charge” feature, it is “play
OR charge” which is a huuuuuge no no from my point of view… I want to carry
on the carnage! Also thirdly: whilst at first, the battery life is excellent,
even looked after and charged/discharged properly, the battery life diminishes
noticeably with extended usage of the unit!
Frankly, you're far better off sourcing yourself a unit called the X25 from
Plantronics (the people who make NASA's headsets… so yes, you might say
they're good!) because it is far superior, and whilst it is not wireless, it is
more comfortable (especially to a glasses wearer such as myself) and a LOT
clearer, and I have never in the whole time I have
been using it had any complaints from other users regards my microphone with
this unit, which I got ALL the time with the wireless one!!
Why waste money on this wireless headset when, eventually; you will run into
problems with it… the gripes I state at the start of this review are
admittedly small, but for the price, I expect perfection! Which is not what
I got from this unit at all, it's about as temperamental as a badly behaved
2 year old with ADD!
A quick side note; as an IT professional, I can categorically state that
whatever router you are using (even if you are running your Live! System piggy
backed through a PC rather than a router) you will not notice a difference in
sound quality (as some people seem to believe), that is purely and simply to do
with the connections on the Live! Servers to yourself, and possibly the Internet
Provider you use. Cheap "no brand” Routers don't bode well for your life on
Live! But they won't ruin your life either, if you can set them up properly, if
you stick with Linksys or Netgear you should be fine!
