"Had a bad day at work? Then play this bad boy!"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I am not a Wolverine fan and I don't read comics either so why would I play a game like this? Well like many others I was sucked in by all the hype prior to the games release. When I first started the game I was a little worried that I had brought a piece of junk. The graphics were not as good as they seemed to be on the game play trailers that were released and I thought here is just another button masher to which I am not a fan of. After I finished the game I was totally satisfied and then some. It took me about 8 hours to finish the game as I was looking for all the collectables. I am now on my third play through!

Good things: Total carnage dished out to enemies by slicing them to pieces and impaling them on environmental objects. Varied enemies and levels. Easy to learn combo's. Levelling up to increase your attacks. For the Xbox 360 owners easy achievements.

Bad things: Single player game only no online, the game is a little easy once you get powered up and not the best looking game but you won't notice this after a few levels. Boss battles get repetitive.

Heres what you can expect. A slow start with the basics and a tutorial. The first half is pretty much straight forward as you gain xp and collect mutants that will increase your powered attacks. Then from the snow stage onward I was in heaven. The game really starts to take off and the enemies really start to increase in numbers. You know what that means, TOTAL CARNAGE! I'm talking about body parts flying everywhere. In saying that the boss battles do get repetitive. The best thing about this game is you keep all your xp and power ups for when you want to play the game again.

Story wise the game follows the movie most of the time but I really did not care about that I just wanted to start fighting again.

For a person who does not play very much fighting type games I really enjoyed this. If you have had a bad day at work come home and take your frustration out on this bad boy!

"Best Wolverine Game Available"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The is how Wolverine should be. The game is action packed from the very beginning. If you ever wanted to control the savage beast and see his true power unleashed then this game is for you. Limbs will be flying, blood will be flowing and claws will be impaling. The story follows the movie somewhat but adds some interesting plot points. I especially enjoyed taking down a massive Sentinel and the addition of Mystique through out the story. I did find it fairly easy, mainly because of the healing factor and the extra mutagens you can add to Wolverines invulnerability. The only times I found myself dying was during some jumping puzzles. I have yet to try it on Hardcore mode which was unlocked after completing the game. The CGI cut-scenes were entertaining and action packed. If you were disappointed with the movie then you may find this will redeem your faith in the Wolverine franchise. Definitely a worthy purchase.

"Hack and slash, and then some"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Without a shadow of doubt, the single greatest thing about this game is the fighting. The first time I played this game, the sheer destruction that Wolverine inflicts had me whooping with delight, ranging from the humble claw slash, to aerial piledrivers, to impaling enemies on trees, to dismemberments and decapitations. Seriously, watching Wolverine eviscerate his way through 20 enemies in a matter of seconds is truly a joyous thing.

The problem? Well, there's not really a whole lot beyond that. The boss fights range from reasonably good to extremely repetitive. The story is pretty much incomprehensible and is largely a tack-on. There's a level-up system, but apart from unlocking new attacks, I never really noticed much difference from the upgrades.

But let's be fair, Wolverine is all about slashing his way through pretty much anything that moves and in that sense the game has it spot on. Overall, this is probably 4 stars for Wolverine fans, and 3 for everyone else.
