Description

This is a touching tale of a very brave duck named Whetu. The little blue duck is a survivor-he manages to hatch beside the river when all the other eggs are washed away, and he overcomes a lot of adversity to survive into adulthood. Then through his call, he helps a stranger who is lost in the mountains find her way home. But when Whetu's natural habitat is threatened, who will help save him?

Author Biography:

Jennifer Beck is one of New Zealand s best known and most successful writers for children. She loves writing picture books, and has a special interest in the combination of art and words. A number of her books have won New Zealand Post Children s Book Awards, including "The Bantam and the Soldier" and "Nobody s Dog." Renee Haggoprimarily illustrates with pen and ink, watercolors, and acrylics. She has a keen eye for realism and is an avid sketcher and life drawer."
