Description

Tod Benoit's passion led him on a journey across the country and around the word in search of gravesites, monuments, memorials, and tombstones of hundreds of our heroes and anti-heroes-people he considers to be the most significant influences on our lives and culture. His wide-ranging selection of entries from criminals to crime-solvers, B-movie actors to baseball players, presidents to protesters, songbirds and lovebirds along his with concise, witty overviews have made this the bestselling guide on the subject for more than 10 years and perfect for anyone interested in celebrity, death, and travel. Each entry includes an entertaining capsule biography full of little-known facts, a detailed description of the death, and very specific directions to the site of the grave. Listings include Jim Morrison, Charles Darwin, Mark Twain, Bonnie and Clyde, Jack Kerouac, Al Capone, Johnny Cash, Mother Teresa, William Shakespeare, Jimi Hendrix, Heath Ledger, Christopher Columbus, and many more. The grave directions include not only the name of the cemetery, but the specific roads and trails to take within the cemetery to reach the gravesite. The book also includes a handy index of grave locations organized by state, province, and country.

Author Biography

Tod Benoit is an entrepreneur who has logged more than 10,000 miles driving around the country in search of notable graves. He previously spent ten years incarcerated in Corporate America, profoundly disturbed that his biography might someday mirror that of Ivan Ilych's, as told by Leo Tolstoy. In 1977, he redirected his efforts and has since spent his days on assorted far-flung adventures, from mountain biking the Continental Divide to hitchhiking the wilds of South America, while alternately mooring in New Zealand and carousing in China and Europe. He lives in Fiskdale, MA.
