Dr. Shane Davis recently moved his family to Jackson, Wyoming after heading the Federal Drug Administration for over a decade. He is trying to heal the wounds of his marriage and bring a sense of normalcy back to their lives. But Washington, D.C. follows the Davis family to the wilds of nearby Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. A pharmaceutical company of questionable ethics has gained Federal rights to bio-prospect microbes from geothermal pools in the area to advance medical science and develop treatments to cure cancer and other diseases. Shane knows all about Rhoades Pharmaceutical's practices. His young son is nearly comatose from a clinical drug trial developed by them and their lead scientist. Through synchronous events, Shane meets a Franciscan Priest named Father Bennington who, not long ago, tried to bury himself in rubble because of his sorrow while watching the Church turn its back on his poor parish in Mexico. But Father Timothy meets a young boy who is fraught with leukemia. The boy's strength and determination in the face of death brings Father Tim back to life.
