Description

Whatever Works is a unique collection of writing by feminists of diverse faiths from around the world. This anthology combines personal essays, poems, and academic musings with the goal of sparking conversations among women of all faith backgrounds. Religion plays a key role in defining and maintaining value systems, and yet it is often disregarded within feminism itself. This book shares the stories of highly diverse women with the hope that we can find collective solutions to the global problems that plague women and girls living under patriarchy.

Author Biography:

Trista Hendren founded Girl God Books in 2011 to support a necessary unraveling of the patriarchal worldview of divinity. Her first book-The Girl God, a children's picture book-was a response to her own daughter's inability to see herself reflected in God. Since then, she has published more than 50 books with hundreds of contributors from across the globe. Originally from Portland, Oregon, she now lives in Bergen, Norway with her family. You can read more about her projects at www.thegirlgod.com. Dr. Amina Wadud is Professor Emerita of Islamic Studies, now traveling the world over seeking answers to the questions that move many of us through our lives. Author of Qur'an and Woman: Rereading the Sacred Text from a Woman's Perspective and Inside the Gender Jihad, she writes about her life journey and anything that moves her about Islam, gender, and justice, especially as these intersect with the rest of the universe. Pat Daly is an aspiring Goddess, mother of three daughters, and proud grandma. With a spiritual journey that includes an Irish Catholic upbringing, a rebellious bout with atheism, and a Christian coffee house conversion, Pat is on an ongoing quest for spiritual wholeness. A published author / writer on career and job search issues, Pat lives in Portland, Oregon.
