Description

Dr. Jennette Reid Tandy (1889 - 1968) of Carrollton, Kentucky, and Vevay, Indiana, was an unusual person, by her education, her observation of culture, both that of her home area circa 1930-1940's and of Hopi Indians in the American Southwest, and her artistic skill in portraying aspects of those cultures in a complex weaving process using cotton, six-strand floss. She was said to be one of the few in the United States to do portrait weaving. This book is both a celebration of Jennette Tands art and an enjoyable biographical image of the woman herself.

Author Biography:

Dr. Elizabeth ("Itsy") Tharp Jones is a descendent of Jennette Reid Tandy and, like her, a citizen of Vevay, Indiana. She earned a Doctorate in Administrative Leadership, leading to a long personal history of public service, including as Superintendent of Schools for Switzerland County, Indiana, and as a member and President of the Switzerland County Council.
