Beyond supporting the production and recognition of good food and foodways from all over the world, La Cocina's aims include social justice, inclusion, and offering entrepreneurial opportunity to women and recent sometimes undocumented immigrants. In this, their first cookbook, more than 20 successful graduates of the kitchen incubator are featured via narratives and recipes. A starry roll of food world supporters of La Cocina will be featured introduction by Gabrielle Hamilton, blurbs from the likes of David Chang and more than 200 photographs by award-winning photographer Eric Wolfinger show the variety of personalities, foods, and restaurants via plated, atmospheric, and portrait shots.

Author Biography

Caleb Zigas is the executive director of La Cocina, and 7x7Magazine named him one of San Francisco's Tastemakers and he was named Yoshiyama Young Entrepreneur by the Hitachi Foundation. La Cocina's San Francisco Street Food Festival and Conference, which ultimately led to increased mobile vending opportunities in the city, was his brainchild. He lives in San Francisco with his family. Leticia Landa is Deputy Director of La Cocina. She studied Anthropology at Harvard, did international nonprofit work in rural Northern India and rurual Southwestern China, and completed the first year of culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. She was name one of San Francisco's Tastemakers by 7x7Magazine and a Yoshiyama Young Entrepreneur by the Hitachi Foundation. She lives in San Francisco with her husband. Eric Wolfinger is a food and lifestyle photographer whose cookbook work includes Tartine Bread, Dandelion Chocolate, Melissa Clark's Dinner, and Prune.
