Prior to myself buying this C.E. Of Warhammer Space Marines, I called Mighty
Ape to ask them to possibly reduce or beat the price of the Bolter Edition of
the game that is available elsewhere. Now MA are not adverse to doing deals with
cuustomers to keep everyone happy, but they told me that unfortunately they
could not change anything in this case this purchase around for me. Well, still
non-plussed I decided (C.E. Junkie that I be) to not cut my nose off to spite
my face and to pay the extra for this edition over the competition's CE. Once
the order arrived the next day, I fully understood where Ben and his product
manager at MA were coming from on opening up the box it came
in…Beautiful…I used to collect Games Workshop's magazine White Dwarf &
still have the seminal issues 90–100. Evrything about the presentation of this
very special edition speaks to me of games Workshops Warhammer 40K franchise. My
jaw was dragging across the carpet agaped at the effort done making this CE. The
Boxing reminds me of those RPG boardgames you buy in comic stores(and indeed in
Games Workshop shops). On removing the inner box from its heavy slipcase one
immediately sees that one is holding a huge gold-faux-foiled TOME that would do
justice as any reverend's bible to sit on a stand and read from in church,
indeed this tome effect reminds me of my very finest edition(of the many
different edition that I collect)I own of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. The
seal is a perfect rendering of a wax pressed stamped seal(the infamous throwing
into the Thames of the Kings seal by an archbishop of Canterbury sprang to mind
on first seeing this seal for some reason)that you see in Vatican library
documents and various don't I look so official many stamped epistles that Henry
the VIII so unsuccessfully tried to force on the already pressured pope in Rome
for his divorce from Catherine for the sultry Anne Boleyn. Anyhoo,
I divulge…The hardbacked coffee table size art book is stunning in
it's conception, tho I caution not to delve too deeply into it until you get
into the game a little in order not to ruin the story. The card were well made
with usefull tips, tho I hazard a guess as to whu the box they come in is the
usual deck of cards size, yet the cards are only two thirds filling said box. My
only gripe is why TH- didn't put the Steelbook version that you get in the
Bolter edition into this awesome package. The game disc came in the usual
vanilla plastic box most games come in albeit with a Not To Be Sold Separately
printed on the back. I guess TH- did not add the steelbook into this fine set,
so the serious ADHD collectors will force their completist seeking aspect of
themselves to buy THAT edition as well. Finally the cd soundtrack(no digital dl'
thank the Machine God)sits very neatly tucked into it's alloted space. It was a
pleasure being the first person to submit & enter the CD's name and
tracklisting info into the server PS3 uses as cd info listings when one puts a
cd on to play on the PS3. Very nice TH-, Thankyou MA(and happy third birthday as
well Mightyape) for NOT giving me a discount as it was worth every penny paying
full-price for this, epitome of what and how a Collector's Edition should look
and feel and smell like.
