Description

Pedro Almodovar makes a triumphant return to the screen in this rich tale of three generations of women who manage to survive everyday life by means of goodness, occasional lies and boundless vitality.  Raimunda (Penelope Cruz) is struggling to make ends meet, holding down several jobs while supporting her unemployed husband and teenage daughter.  When Raimunda and her sister are visited by the ghost of their dead mother, Irene (Carmen Maura) it becomes clear that some long-repressed family issues remain unresolved.
