Description

Dumped by her boyfriend Jamie, Isabel sends a message in a bottle while on holiday on Scotland, never dreaming that someone will find it. Isabel resumes her college life and forgets all about it. Then she gets a phone call, from a Scottish boy her own age and an unlikely relationship begins...Recently dumped by Jamie, her arrrogant boyfriend, Isabel Bright hopes to take her mind off things on a family holiday on the West Coast of Scotland. But the bleak scenery only makes her feel miserable and bored, and one day walking along an empty beach she spots an empty bottle. In a moment of madness she scribbles a note about herself and her phone number on paper and stuffs it in the bottle, hurling it far out to sea - not imagining that anyone will find it. Back home, Isabel throws herself into rehearsals for the school play: Shakespeare's The Tempest. As the lead, Miranda, Isabel is horrified to discover that Jamie has been cast as the male lead and he wants to get back with her. Against her better judgement, Isabel relents...but then she receives an exciting phone call from a stranger; a boy called Duncan - who's found her message! Duncan is 16, too, and he's funny and intelligent and they talk for ages on the phone and every couple of weeks after that. Probably spotty and geeky though, she thinks, and he lives on a remote Scottish island, it could never work. But then Jamie soon dumps her again, and a devastated Isabel bravely manages to give an impressive first night performance as Miranda, but returns home to pour her heart out to Duncan. But Dunca's mum tells her that he is missing in a violent storm at sea with his father! Isabel surprises herself by how upset she is, keeping an all-night vigil by the phone, to finally hear that Duncan and his dad have been found safe and well. Isabel decides
