Description

Unsung Heroes is a collection of unknown and unheralded heroes who have changed the course of humanity with their acts of valor and bravery. The world is too prone to notice and applaud only the acts of leaders and celebrities. The common people who sacrifice so much out of their love of humanity deserve to be recognized and applauded for their selfless acts of compassion. This is the book, to settle in front of the fire and read quietly and with introspection. It will reveal much about the human spirit

Author Biography:

Autobiography of a Quiet Man Frank C. Newby Enter the world of Frank Newby as he takes you on a kaleidoscope ride through history, education, religion and sundry other topics, viewed through the eyes of one man from the "greatest generation" on his final voyage. Frank Newby has plowed with horses and a walking plow; he ran a bundle wagon to a steam powered threshing machine. He pitched hay to the haystack by hand and he worked on construction at 14 years old in the Great War effort of WWII. He is a renaissance man who was born the year before the great depression, lived through the great flu epidemic of the early 30s and ate dandelion greens because that is all there was to supplement a meal of corn bread and beans. He trapped muskrats and plowed with a stirrup guided, horse drawn cultivator because that's what children did in the war years. Frank served over 7 years in the Navy, from 1945 through 1953, two active and five in the reserves. He comes to the world of literature with a cornucopia of thoughts and ideas and an uncommon treasure of common sense. He has lived what he writes and observed the weaknesses and frailties of the common man. A trip with Frank Newby is a trip through a disappearing generation who understood the meaning of devotion, sacrifice and loyalty. He learned to make decisions instead of waiting for a committee recommendation. He grew up with a kerosene lantern for the barn and kerosene lamp for the home. He didn't read by light of the fireplace like Abraham Lincoln but he did study by the light of the coal oil lamp and the great old base burner stove. Read books told by a great story teller and chronicler of history. Be the first in your crowd to be able to quote from the words of a quiet, determined man who went from farmer to sailor to teacher, to principal, salesman and finally to writer and historian. It has been a full life of trials and tribulations. Be the first to share the knowledge of a disappearing century with the Renaissance man on his "Final Voyage."
