Description

If you're looking for new ways to explore Australia's rugged and remote landscapes, Ultimate 4WD Tracks: Australia features 40 of the best driving tracks in every state and territory. Travel writer Anthony Ham offers up a selection of popular tracks within easy distance of major cities, such as Red Centre Way and K'gari (Fraser Island), as well as bucket list trips like Gibb River Road, Birdsville Track and Oodnadatta Track. With tracks of varying difficulty levels, even first-time drivers can find an adventure to suit their needs and skill level. For each of the 40 tracks there are detailed descriptions, suggested itineraries, images and maps, making this both a practical and inspirational book to help you discover new pockets of Australia on four wheels.

Author Biography:

Anthony Ham is one of Australia’s most experienced nature and travel writers. For more than two decades, he has been travelling to the Earth’s wild places in search of stories, including to Africa, the Amazon, the Arctic and outback Australia. His work has appeared in The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, The Monthly, National Geographic Traveler, BBC Wildlife, Lonely Planet Traveller, The Independent and elsewhere. His first book is The Last Lions of Africa (Allen & Unwin, 2020), but he has also written or co-written more than 135 guidebooks for Lonely Planet. Anthony lived in Madrid for ten years until 2012, and now lives in Melbourne with his wife and two children.
