James R. Akerman is curator of maps at the Newberry Library, and director of the library's Hermon Dunlap Smith Center for the History of Cartography. Robert W. Karrow Jr. is curator of special collections and maps in the Roger and Julie Baskes Department of Special Collections at the Newberry Library. David Buisseret is Jenkins and Virginia Garrett Professor of History at the University of Texas, Arlington. He is the author of Historic Illinois from the Air and editor of Monarchs, Ministers, and Maps, both published by the University of Chicago Press.
