David Pickering is a writer, editor and illustrator who over a long international career has compiled dozens of respected reference books on a wide variety of subjects, from dictionaries of quotations to A-Z guides to witchcraft and superstitions. As a writer of fiction, his works include two novels and three volumes of short stories, one of which was long-listed in The Guardian's Short Story Competition in 2016.
