This text highlights the need for all team members to understand the principles of trauma care so that the maximun co-operation can lead to a more rapid anticipation of the patients needs. It reviews trauma care body system by body system. Particular attention is paid to the normal system before the pathophysiological chamges due to trauma. The management of these changes are reviewed. The book is intended to equip all personnel with information that will assist them in developing the appropriate decision making skills for managing the injured patient. It is aimed at nurses on post-registration trauma courses, paramedic training courses, accident and emergency tutors, Project 2000 accident and emergency courses (as a supplementary) and at any workers in the area of accident and emergency.

Author Biography:

PETER DRISCOLL BSc, FRCS, is a Senior Lecturer in Emergency Medicine in the University Department of Emergency Medicine at the Hope Hospital in Manchester. CARL GWINNUTT FRCA, is a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Hope Hospital in Manchester. CINDY LeDUC JIMMERSON RN, CEN, is a Trauma System Design Consultant in Oregon, USA. OLIVE GOODALL RCN, is a Clinical Nurse Manager in Emergency Medicine in the University Department of Emergency Medicine at the Hope Hospital in Manchester.
