Description

Translation as a Cognitive Activity provides an overarching account of translation as a cognitive activity, from the pioneering use of think-aloud protocols as a sole technique used to investigate the translation process in the mid-1980s to the latest developments in the field. This book focuses on the main aspects of translation as a cognitive activity, including detailed descriptions of translation process research as well as research on translation competence and its acquisition. Providing thorough information into ways of studying translation as a cognitive activity by means of systematic references to empirical-experimental investigations, this innovative textbook promotes knowledge about the cognitive study of translation to related fields. With detailed explanations about models related to the functioning of the translation process and translation competence as well as an updated account of methods and instruments used in empirical-experimental research in translation, this is the ideal resource for students, translator trainers as well as novice and experienced translators.
