I had my doubt about Wildlands due to the lack of confidence in Ubisoft as they burned gamers several times in recent years. Fortunately, the execution is good this time. The Tom Clancy badge shines again in this game. It is imperative to point out that Ghost Recon is a tactical shooter series, though it has made some changes to cater for mainstream gamers in recent years. If you play Wildlands on EXTREME difficulty, you will get a decent tactical shooter. On the flip side, playing it on other difficulty levels will ruin your experience since the enemy AI is just stupid and you will be bored in a few hours. Once you are on Extreme difficulty, the enemy AI responses to their surrounding much more realistically. They will spot you easily if you don't have proper visual and auditory concealment and their shots become lethal just like yours. Extreme difficulty makes you conduct reconnaissance in a mid/long distance more often and you will use force more wisely to avoid unnecessary gunfights. Your team AI is good enough to support you, however, you may need to micro manage them. I also find they're not that effective in close range. It means you may find it is very challenging in late game if you don't have human friends to do coop. The open world is beautiful and busy enough to its context. I also find driving/piloting is simplified too much to cater for console players. In short, Wildlands doesn't provide the ARMA level of tactical shooter experience due to various constraints, but it definitely does things ARMA-ish and arguably the best tactical shooter for console gamers so far.
