"A decent game if you play it correctly"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I had my doubt about Wildlands due to the lack of confidence in Ubisoft as they burned gamers several times in recent years. Fortunately, the execution is good this time. The Tom Clancy badge shines again in this game. It is imperative to point out that Ghost Recon is a tactical shooter series, though it has made some changes to cater for mainstream gamers in recent years. If you play Wildlands on EXTREME difficulty, you will get a decent tactical shooter. On the flip side, playing it on other difficulty levels will ruin your experience since the enemy AI is just stupid and you will be bored in a few hours. Once you are on Extreme difficulty, the enemy AI responses to their surrounding much more realistically. They will spot you easily if you don't have proper visual and auditory concealment and their shots become lethal just like yours. Extreme difficulty makes you conduct reconnaissance in a mid/long distance more often and you will use force more wisely to avoid unnecessary gunfights. Your team AI is good enough to support you, however, you may need to micro manage them. I also find they're not that effective in close range. It means you may find it is very challenging in late game if you don't have human friends to do coop. The open world is beautiful and busy enough to its context. I also find driving/piloting is simplified too much to cater for console players. In short, Wildlands doesn't provide the ARMA level of tactical shooter experience due to various constraints, but it definitely does things ARMA-ish and arguably the best tactical shooter for console gamers so far.

"All in all a good military sim but can get repetitive."
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I dont normally do reviews but after finishing the game and playing 50+ hours I can say this game deserves a review.

Game play: You start of on a hill in a map bigger then big with a new objective and an icon far, far away. For the first 5–10 missions they fell fun and different, but as you soon realize that those 5–10 missions are the only ones you can play. What I mean is that all the missions are the same. There are about 4–5 different missions thay are: Extract- you get a bad guy leader from point A to point B alive. V.I.P- you rescue a “vip” from the bad guys. Demolish- you blow sh*t up. Theft- you steal a a car or something… And some others but those are the main ones.

AI: One word: dumb. The AI is dumb and not very good, yes some times the solders run to cover but most of the time they blindly run at me with no care for their own life. I would recommend playing on max difficulty for a challenging game. And dont get me started on the NPCs. A good example of good NPCs is GTA 5. When walking around you can hear them on the phone, talking to each other, if you steal their car they swear at you can try to beat you up. Like you know, real people would. When I steal a car the NPC gets out and walks away like nothing happened. When you shoot in GTA people run away in fear because you have a big ass gun. In wildlands they dont care. Your squad mates are ok, they are not very good at killing so you will find yourself doing most of that. But if you go down that will rush to your position and revive you at any cost, no mater how many enemy's are around you at the time.

Customization & weapons I have to hand it to ubisoft there are so many weapons and attachments to find in the world that im still finding them. And they are all (mostly) good. You can kill all enemy's with about 1–3 shots with every gun. I find that shotguns and SMGs are not very good tho. Go for silenced snipers and a LMG to go loud when you fail a stealth (trust me you WILL fail).

Enemy's There are only 4 different types of enemy's, they are: Guy with gun guy. Guy with gun guy with more health guy. Sniper guy. Helicopter guy. There are some other ones but they are more sub classes of the 4 then different enemy's all together. Go to AI to see how they act.

Game physics A redeeming quality of the game, yes the missions are mostly the same but the funny game mechanics make it fun and less repetitive. Driving is hard to get used to but after 3 hours of crashing, sinking, falling and flopping you get used to the way the cars, boats, planes, helicopters and motorbikes handle.

All in all the game is fun and not that bad. I might have been hard on it but it is a good game also play with friends its WAY better. It practically saves it.

Description

Bolivia, a few years from now: this beautiful South American country has become the largest cocaine producer in the world. The influential and vicious Santa Blanca drug cartel has turned the country into a narco-state, leading to lawlessness, fear, injustice, and violence. The cartel is on track to becoming a major underworld power and global threat

An all-out war is not the answer. A surgical, stealthy, lethal approach is the only way to stop the disease at its source. The Ghosts, an elite US Special Forces team, are sent behind enemy lines to wreak havoc, destabilise, and eventually break the alliance between the cartel and the corrupted government.

Facing an almighty enemy in a massive and hostile environment, the Ghosts will need to make critical moral choices and engage in tough battles to complete their mission – their grittiest and most dangerous operation to date.
