Description

A breathtaking picture book about incredible animal migrations, illustrated by the winner of the 2019 Waterstones Children's Book Prize, Jenny Løvlie. Over the cold, mirrored waters of the Arctic, a tiny tern sets off on the world's longest animal migration. On her way, she passes humpback whales, caribou, Canada geese, leatherback turtles, and monarch butterflies, each on their own incredible journey south for winter. When the Arctic tern finally arrives, she must find a new home on the Antarctic shore . . . until it's time to return to the northern skies once again. A beautiful, lyrical, and reassuring bedtime story, perfect for young animal lovers, with a map and double-page spread of non-fiction facts at the end.

Author Biography:

Clare Helen Welsh is a picture book writer who loves dreaming up stories for young readers and their families to enjoy. For many years she was an elementary school teacher, which ignited her love of storytelling, reading, and role-play. When she isn't imagining new worlds and creating characters, she enjoys walking on the beach and in the countryside and takes lots of inspiration from the natural world. Clare lives with her husband, two children, and her dog, Hope, in Devon, England. Jenny Løvlie grew up in Northern Norway on Ekkerøy, a tiny peninsula sticking out into the Barents Sea, where she was the first child to be born in 12 years. Jenny studied Illustration & Animation at Kingston University in London, England. Her love of nature shines through in her work and she draws inspiration from the wild landscapes of Scandinavia, Nordic folklore, and Scandinavian design. Jenny's favourite things are going on adventures in her van, camping, bird-watching, cooking, and reading. She lives in Cardiff, Wales.
