Those Oblivious Emotions is a compilation of nine stories that revolve around unique concepts and characters. Gundruk, a tale of the pariah man whose tragic death gave him space in the talks of his ungrateful employers; Li-Li Mai, a tale of ego and orthodox beliefs that changed the lives of two innocent lovers; Punyo Aai, a holy mother who chose responsibility over blood relation; Aaita, the old granny whose wit solves a theft mystery with her little grandsons; Boora Dangoria, a holy spirit who safeguards the wood from nature rapists; Ghorapaak, a fish-eating monster who is entrapped in human emotions; Dubu, the tale of the boundless love of a father that made him end up in the old age home; Bhaat, the tale of a farmer whose efforts are unsung; and Montobyo, a story of a girl who changed people's opinion on beauty.

Author Biography

Usha and Tulika Basumatary are two sisters who co-author under one pen name 'Soul Sisters'. These sisters were born and brought up in the serene region of our Himalayan state Assam, which is blessed with the second Ganga of India, the river Brahmaputra. Brahmaputra has been a source of inspiration to many legendary Assamese and Indian poets and writers. How could they go untouched by such divinity and epitome of inspiration around in the air? Inevitably, they have been writing for the past five years, and the book in your hand, Those Oblivious Emotions, is their debut collection of short stories. They are humble residents of the beautiful city of Guwahati. Besides writing, the Soul Sisters love dancing, travelling and yoga.
