Tom Alesia won the national Music Journalism Award for two feature articles about the Fendermen, a one-hit wonder with their 1960 rockabilly cover of country legend Jimmie Rodgers' Mule Skinner Blues. He also was a finalist for the award and earned four first-place honors, including two for arts criticism, from the American Association of Feature Editors.
