Description

A card of fortune, ruin, drawn carefully, determines the fate of a beautiful woman. The merciless foreground of a female protecting her child from swords threatening and a soulless backdrop of an indifferent celestial void are the terrifying aspects of the Ten of Swords card. This beautiful woman, Grace, lives an idyllic lifestyle combining a loving and successful husband, wonderful twin sons and the freedom of owning a remote farm in New York. Her reversal of fortune is huge and swift. Her husband strays and then files for divorce in her inattention to him and obsession with the twins. And though she receives wealth in the divorce, she is shattered. She loves him still. In her distraction over this, a tragic accident occurs and one twin dies. A week later, Sammy, the surviving twin, sees his momma step from a taxi. He is overjoyed and runs to her naked and dripping from their pond. She is disconcerted by his wetness and cuffs his ear. The battle is provoked then. She is not herself but Sammy, disregarding her torment, is stirred against her. "How can she ignore you, Seth?" His delusion is beyond her; he is ever more maddened at her cruelty. Accusations of witchcraft, true deeds of torture and more death ensue. The curse is relentless. Can it be stopped? An awakening realization tips fate's hand. Then slowly, inexorably, another card is drawn.

Author Biography:

Jeffrey Underwood graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in psychology, though he has practiced as a Registered Nurse for many years. He also comes from a family of traditionally published authors. His first published work was the "Forbidden Tome; Hansel and Gretel's True Tale." His second was entitled "Lethal Assumed; Lost Tome Found." Three more books followed in the Entity Saga and then eleven books in Sarah's Saga. Sarah's Saga, written dually, fall under his and coauthor Kate Taylor's rubric. He currently resides in Mountlake Terrace, Washington, a suburb of Seattle and hopes that those who read the just published, "Then Came the Ten of Swords," a stand-alone book which is also co-written with Kate Taylor, will equally enjoy a branching out into a twin's tale of terrifying suspense. Some say that no one lives in New Hampshire, but Kate does. Her first work as an established author is entitled "The Pink Eraser." Kate has collaborated with Jeff on many a novel now. The earliest of their collaborations were entitled "Treason's Truth; Mac Alpin's Scotland," "Eagle's Eclipse; America Before Columbus," "Tasman's Travail; The Journey Down Under," and "Highland Gals." Their more recent tales have been "Sonnet In Red Ink," "Tracks of Lost Tears," and "Captive To Cocoa." The sad fact of child slavery in the chocolate industry is revealed in the final of those three. The entire compilation of Sarah's Saga includes: " Eyes of A Pagan Queen," "White Scream," "Scythian Sorrows," "Indecent Diane," "Glitter's Graveyard," "Crist Miss Blues," "Skin Monster," "Sunset Over The Villerouge," "Honor's Implacable Soldier," "Sting of the Golden Bee" and "Sea of Impulse." Kate and Jeff also wrote" The Color Of Seizures" which brings a sense of balance and peace to those who, like Kate, are challenged with PNES, a non-epileptic seizure disorder. On a playful level, Kate and Jeff have also combined in writing "The Rule of Thumb & Fingers," a texter's bible with lots of laughs, and "Sock Monkey Life," which is full of sheer creativity. Jeff and Kate met online and found that their collaborative interests meshed splendidly. This new novel is an example of that blending of gusto for writing that they both certainly have. Despite a distance of three thousand miles, for nearly five years now, Kate and Jeff have accomplished the writing and self-publishing of their books via texts, email, or phone alone. They have yet to meet. But they will.
