Author Biography:

Lada Popovic was born in 1963 in Belgrade, former Yugoslavia. She attended the University of Belgrade graduating with a degree in electrical engineering in 1989. She then attended graduate school at The California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, with degrees in 1987 and 1991. Lada Popovic moved to Toronto in 1992 and then to Vancouver in 1995. Expert, brilliant and trained in mathematics and engineering, Lada loved art, music and literature. She liked to say that, while Canada was her country, Belgrade was her city. She wrote many poems and articles in English and in her native Serbian. Some of her poems and articles in Serbian have been published in Belgrade. Lada Popovic died tragically, age 39, in Vancouver in 1993.
