Description

Global warming and the environment have become a vital issue and throughout the world, governments are seeking ways to finance a greener policy. In November 2000, over 60,000 representatives from governments, environmental groups, industry and media will come together at the COP6 talks in the Hague to discuss how this policy can be achieved. These representatives will attempt to come up with a solution to cover such contentious issues as the trading of emissions and how to balance the needs of the West with those of the developing world. This book looks closely at the finances involved and in particular how the investment needed in the environment can be a benefit to the economy, suggesting that the investment will be an aid to technological advancement and to the creation of jobs. Covers contentious areas such as the use of nuclear power as a viable source of "green" energy and the use of the financial markets to facilitate these policy changes.
