The Duchy of Freid is a peaceful country of deeply spiritual people. It's a scenic little dukedom, composed of rolling green hills all snuggled together under a brilliantly azure sky. It's a productive community, awash in farms, mills, shops, and schools. And, it also happens to be the final target in one of the bloodiest conquests in the history of Gaea. Freid holds the last significant deposit of "super fuel" in Gaea, and Zaibach will do anything to obtain it, including annihilating the people of Freid. The Revolutionist's Army has sworn to protect the country and its child Duke, but against the forces of Dornkirk, it may not be enough. Meanwhile, Hitomi feels a strong calling as she crosses Freid's borders, and a consuming vision reveals some of the secrets behind Escaflowne's past. It will take the combined forces of both the Revolutionist's Army and Freid itself to combat Zaibach, when the inevitable battle begins. Van, Hitomi, and Dilandau must also prepare psychologically for the attack, as Zaibach's strongest warriors bring more than battle prowess to the field.
