"Dont Believe The Critic's"

As usual the american press really slammed this movie and yet half of the critic's reviews were by people who never even went and saw the movie at all. Being a bit of a horror fan I was pleasantly surprised with “The Unborn”,call it a cross between The Exorcist & Emily Rose with the added bonus of Gary Oldman. The effects are great, you wouldnt expect anything less from Robert Kurtzman and Howard Berger of K.N.B Effects, these guys seem to be in huge demand these days and in this movie have comer up with some exellent effects that will have you cheering for more. The 1080p transfer is brillant with the soundtrack rocking the floorboards. A highly underrated movie and a cut above the usual slash and hack that hollywood is delivering these days.

Description

The Unborn

Casey Bell (Odette Yustman) hated her mother for leaving her as a child. But when inexplicable things start to happen, Casey begins to understand why she left. Plagued by merciless dreams and a tortured ghost that haunts her waking hours, she must turn to the only spiritual advisor, Sendak (Gary Oldman), who can make it stop.

With Sendak‘s help, Casey uncovers the source of a family curse dating back to Nazi Germany – a creature that is getting stronger with each possession, and has the ability to inhabit anyone or anything. With the curse unleashed, her only chance at survival is to shut a doorway from beyond our world that has been pried open by someone who was never born.

Critic Reviews:

  • " [An] exuberantly creepy mash-up of Jewish folklore, J-horror atmospherics, and demonic possession boilerplate. " – Cliff Doerksen
  • " Possession tale is low on blood, but high on scares. " – James Rocchi
  • " Somewhere Sigmund Freud is trying to figure out how he can come back from the dead just so he can analyze The Unborn! …Crazy fun. " – Staci Layne Wilson
