This story has never been told before. In 1992 some builders were demolishing a house in Devonport to build a new fancy one and came across a skeleton beneath the foundations. Forensic tests confirmed it belonged to a woman who died in the 1930s. There were rumours going around that she was a victim of Elspeth Kerr.
This book tells the story of Nurse Kerr, her victims, and the legal case around the trials. It is a social history of New Zealand, specifically Devonport during the depression years.
