Description

The Secret Garden is a novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It was initially published in serial form beginning in 1910, and rst published in its entirety in 1911. It is now one of Burnett's most popular novels, and considered a classic of English children's literature. The story runs as follows: after losing her parents and being shipped from India to the Yorkshire Moors, Mary Lennox is terribly lonely living in her uncle`s gloomy mansion. But one day, she learns of a secret garden in the grounds and uncovers an old key which leads her to the hidden door. Slowly, she turns the key and enters a world she could never have imagined.Several stage and lm adaptations have been made. With the rise of scholarly work in children's literature over the past quarter-century, The Secret Garden has risen steadily in prominence. It is often noted as one of the best children's books of the twentieth century. Jeffrey Masson considers The Secret Garden "one of the greatest books ever written for children".This classic title has been published by RADLEY BOOKS.
