Description

One of the most original writers, Edgar Allan Poe, shaped the development of both the detective story and science-fiction genres. Some of his poems remain among the most popular in American literature, and Poe's tales of the macabre still thrill readers of all ages. Here, in a small-format illustrated collection, are familiar favourites like THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER, THE TELL-TALE HEART, THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM, THE RAVEN, THE BLACK CAT and more. These are matched with newly commissioned illustrations that wonderfully complement Poe's dark oeuvre. A perfect book for new readers of Poe, or for dedicated fans looking for the classics in a new illustrated edition.

Author Biography

Edgar Allan Poe's early work as a writer went unrecognised and he was forced to earn his living on newspapers and working as an editor. It wasn't until the publication of THE RAVEN AND OTHER POEMS in 1845 did Poe finally receive the recognition he deserved.
