Description

A bilingual Spanish and English edition of The Prophet, with Gibran's original drawings, in tête-bêche format. The book follows Gibran's original 1923 first edition, complete with his drawings, and has a new Spanish translation. Both the Spanish and English are lined up page for page, and the pages are numbered in both directions for easy reference should you need to compare the text with the other language. This is a simple, yet clear edition of the classic book that remains true to Khalil Gibran's writing and style in both languages.

Author Biography:

Gibran Khalil Gibran, commonly written Kahlil Gibran in English, was born in Bcharri, in what would become Lebanon, a small city in the mountains. His family was poor and Gibran moved to Boston with his mother when he was twelve years old. He enrolled in art school, and both painted and wrote. His first published works were drawings, used for book covers, in 1898. He published "The Prophet" in 1923 and he slowly become well-known as a writer. He died on April 10, 1931, in New York City. Joey Carney writes and translates books. He has contributed to literary journals, online magazines, and has translated numerous books from Spanish into English. He currently lives in Lima, Peru.
