Author Biography:

Paul Statham is Director of the International Research Network on European Political Communications (EurPolCom - www.eurpolcom.eu) and Professor of Political Sociology at the University of Bristol. Previously, he held a Chair at the Institute for Communications Studies of the University of Leeds and was senior researcher at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin (WZB). In 2008, he was made a Visiting Professor in the Journalism Dept at City University, London. He has held substantial research awards (GBP1.8M) from the Economic and Social Research Council, European Union Framework Programme, and European Science Foundation. Hans-Jorg Trenz is Research Professor at ARENA, Centre for European Studies at the University of Oslo.
